Microwaved Salmon Steak

If you love eating Salmon steak but hate the smell of fish cooking, try this microwave recipe that shows you how to cook salmon without the smell. Alternatively, the fish can be gently poached in a little water flavoured with a couple of slices of lemon, salt & pepper.

Ingredients - Serves 4

  • 4 x 200g/7oz Salmon Steaks
  • 2 tabsp water
  • Salt & pepper

Method

Rinse the salmon and place in a non metallic dish.
Add a couple of tablespoons of water and some salt & pepper. Cover with plastic wrap and pierce.
Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Take the dish out and move the inside steaks to the outside, turning them around at the same time to ensure even cooking.
Cook for 1 minute more and check the salmon to see if it’s done. Don’t forget that food carries on cooking after being taken out of the microwave.
And that’s all there is to it, what could be simpler?

To Serve

With a simple green salad, new potatoes and either Hollandaise sauce or mix a tablespoon of chopped fresh dill into some mayonnaise and pop on the side.

Tip

This also works really well if you want to cook fish from frozen. Don’t defrost it, just pop it straight into the microwave and cook for 1 -2 minutes more that for fresh.
