Indian Spiced Tandoori Baked Salmon

Recipes for Baked salmon marinated with Tandoori spices - a delicious Indian Food recipe with a twist. One of the best recipes for salmon steaks or salmon fillets.

The salmon is left to marinate in a Tandoori marinade for 30 - 40 minutes and then baked in a really hot oven (to replicate the traditional Indian Tandoor oven). The baked salmon is delicious served with a red onion & cucumber yoghurt raita or cucumber & pear relish.
Ingredients - serves 4 (easy to increase)

  • 4 salmon steaks or fillets

Marinade

  • 6 tabsp natural Greek yoghurt (I use Total for preference)
  • juice of 2 limes
  • 1 teasp garam masala
  • 1 teasp paprika
  • 1½ teasp fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • ½ teasp ground cumin
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • quarters of lime to serve

Method

Mix all the marinade ingredients together and season with salt & pepper. Put the salmon steaks in a non-metallic dish and cover with the marinade. Turn the steaks over a couple of times, cover and leave to marinate in the fridge.
Alternatively, do what I do and save on washing up - put the marinade into a zip lock bag, add the salmon, close and pop in the fridge.

Heat the oven to its highest setting, line a baking tray with aluminium foil and oil lightly. Take the fish from the marinade, pop onto the baking tray and drizzle lightly with vegetable oil.
Bake for 10 minutes.

Serve the Tandoori Baked Salmon with the cucumber salad, new potatoes or basmati rice and a refreshing yoghurt raita.
