My Website Story

If you’ve been thinking about building a website and working from home but don’t know where to begin, read my story.

When I gave birth to my twin boys in 1998 little did I realise just how much they would take over my life. I innocently assumed that my life would go on pretty much as before once I’d got over the first year or two. How wrong I was. Those two little boys took over everything.

As a mother - I don't know about you - but my life totally revolved around them, in the early years anything that had to be done was fitted in around their meal times and naps, then later there were toddler groups to go to and a million other things. (I don’t remember having such an active social life at that age!) until they reached school age. Great, I thought, time for me!

Well that’s all fine and dandy for a while and then I got to thinking, how could I work from home and bring in some extra income? I was used to earning my own money and hated always having to ask my husband if I wanted anything, besides, now that I wasn't working we were living on one salary and it would be great to be able to afford a few treats now and again.

Of course, it would have to fit in around the boys school schedule, and I couldn’t work if they were sick, who would look after them? I couldn’t rely on my other half as he was frequently called away on business ( of course that meant I couldn’t work at night either) and what happened in the school holidays? I could have gone temping but there’s no job satisfaction in that so was a non starter. Then I thought well, I love to cook, I grew up cooking, I remember way back when I was 4 years old making scrambled eggs for my mother, but I was lucky, my parents owned a restaurant in Guernsey and as mother was the chef she let me experiment in the restaurant kitchen. (Though not on the paying guests!) Maybe I could cook for people?

And that’s what I did, for a while, anyway, but it still wasn’t enough, it involved quite a lot of work for not much return and once again, if one of the kids were off sick or it was holiday time then I was stuck. What I needed was something to make me feel good about what I’d achieved and then it happened.

I came across Site Build It

Now I’d come across many other schemes on the net, most promising that with their way you could earn mega bucks with little or no effort and in 24 hours or less (haven’t we all seen the hundreds of Get Rich Quick Schemes out there) and don’t we all know that in reality the only ones making the money are the advertisers themselves, you’re not going to make a penny out of it. And we’ve all seen the letters from so-called “gurus” who are nothing of the sort who, if you pay them will show you a fail safe way to make money, they’re no more gurus than I’m a film star (although ?….).

What I liked about Site Build It was it gave you Proof

Yes, Site Build It or SBI for short, showed me real success stories about real people, and you could ask a real person a question and get an answer.

And that‘s exactly what I did. I read everything that SBI had to offer, what’s more SBI gives you a free trial so that you can test the water.

SBI explained that if you’ve got a passion for something, be it, motorbikes, porcupines, travel or, as in my case, cooking - then you could build a website, but more importantly for me I didn’t have to know HTML or any technical stuff, because it all comes with SBI in one neat, fantastic package. No more wandering aimlessly on the web going down dead ends and throwing my money at no hope projects. SBI was and is my saviour and I will be forever grateful to them for showing me that I could make money, have fun whilst doing it and learn and best of all, stay at home to look after my family.
