Tea Smoked Salmon Recipe
This easy smoked salmon recipe is just right for smoking salmon at home. Easy recipe for salmon smoked with tea. No special equipment needed. Just a wok and some tin foil makes one of the quickest salmon in foil recipes I know.
Ingredients - per person
- 1 x 175g/6oz salmon fillet
- 50g/2oz loose leaf Tea
- 50g/2oz brown sugar
- 50g/2oz uncooked long grain rice
- 2 sheets tin foil
Method
Mix the sugar, tea and rice together.
Cover the base of the wok with tin foil (if you don’t you’ll ruin your wok) and empty the smoking mixture onto this.
Cover the mix with tin foil and lay your salmon on top.
Put a lid on the wok and place over a high heat.
Don’t panic when you see smoke coming out from under the lid. And try not to peak until 10 minutes has gone by.
Now comes the slightly tricky bit.
Before you lift the lid off the wok I advise you to go outside unless you have an industrial strength extractor fan otherwise you’ll set off the smoke alarms!
Ready? Take off the lid and when the smoke has gone you should be left with a wonderful hot tea smoked salmon recipe. If it isn’t quite cooked just put the lid back on and reheat for 2 or 3 minutes more.
To serve
Either eat whilst still hot with some buttery new potatoes and peas or wait until the hot smoked salmon has gone cold and use to make a delicious
smoked salmon dip
or my personal favourite,
hot smoked salmon & asparagus frittata
